How do I text a number in Slovenia from my phone in America?
Q. I wanna know how to text someone in Slovenia from my phone in America... My phone won't let me do +.
Asked by Zeke Huber - Sun Oct 18 02:39:03 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. 00 is the same as a +, so if you wanna text someone in Slovenia, you have to put 00386...and then the number, but you have to be carefull, the beginning of the telephone number is usually 031 or 041, than you must leave the first zero...so I I wanted to call a numer 031666999, you must type 0038631666999.

Can i enter slovenia through Italy without a visa?
Q. Can i enter slovenia by flying to Italy (trieste) and then enter slovenia by land transportation, as I want to go to the slovenian coast. Do I need a visa to do this, or can I still enter slovenia visa free? Im Malaysian, and I can stay in slovenia and italy, for 90 days without a visa. But I was just wondering, if I enter Slovenia through Italy, would i need a visa for doing this?
Asked by unknown - Thu Jan 28 15:13:57 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Malaysian citizen are visa exempt for the Schengen zone to include Italy and Slovenia for up to 90 days within a six months period provided they meet the general requirements for visa free entry: hold a valid passport hold onward/return flight tickets hold visible means of support (Italy: see attached website, Slovenia: 70 per day of stay) .. Once you have entered the Schengen zone and you have gone through the immigration process you can freely travel to all Schengen countries without any further immigration needs. The land/sea borders are open, no passport controls on land borders or on the ferry Trieste - Portoroz; should you plan to fly from Italy you would only need to show your passport to the check-in agent, again no… [cont.]

Iv got a holiday home in Slovenia with a uk registered car there i want to sell. How do i go about exporting ?
Q. With the v5 there is a part for exporting, but i guess thats for when its in the uk ready to be exported abroad. How do i sort the papers for the new slovene owner when the car is already abroad(in slovenia)?
Asked by Stephen Burkusmaximus - Wed Feb 4 13:37:48 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Two thoughts: Does a UK registered car with (presumably) righthand steering have use in a country where lefthand steering is the norm, and surely, the purpose of export documenation is for legitimately removing the licensing and registration information from the UK DVLA. The actual location of the car, is not necessarily relevant, for the purpose of the paperwork, unless it was illegally imported to Slovenia from the UK by virtue of some sanction. Isn't there a question asking when you intend to/have export(ed) the vehicle?

A. At this time, the area equivalent to Slovenia was known as Carantania. It was part of the Frankish empire from 828. Here is a whole book all about the early history of Slovenia! Page 46-47 discusses the situation around the year 829 Another book: (round about page 50) And some internet articles about the history of Slovenia or Carantania

A. A wonderful place! I lost part of my heart to Slovenia in the summer of 2007 when I spent a fabulous week holidaying there! My main stay was in Portoroz but during the week we also visited the very pittoresque capital city Ljubljana, the mountainous and cool Bled as well as the smaller place near Portoroz, Piran. I fell in love with all the cheap and big ice-cream portions, and particularly with the wonderfully flavoured, cold Oaza drinks!! Also, the spas of Portoroz are divine! A very wonderful country indeed, not too crowded, relatively clean, very friendly people who speak great English, etc.

A. It may depend on where you're from. Last I heard though, residents of the United States didnt need a visa for entry into Slovenia and could stay for upto 3 months. You do, however, need a valid passport.

Is it possible to go skiing in slovenia for 1 day?
Q. At a real Ski Slope? Say if i was staying at the bottom of the mountain near the slopes? Can you get up there and go skiing for a day?
Asked by emillllyyyyyy. - Thu Jun 21 16:13:59 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Definitely, if travelling is not part of the problem. You will be able to hire ski equipment, and possibly specialised outer clothing. If you have never skied before you may find one day to be an unsatisfying experience. It usually takes a 2 or 3 days to begin to get skilled enough to start to enjoy (and a lifetime of improvement after that). I also suggest you take a lesson, otherwise you will never get to enjoy yourself. Most resorts are well set up for beginners.

Why do Slovenia, Slovakia and Russia have basically the same flag?
Q. Also Croatia and Serbia have the same stripes but a different order, why are they like this?
Asked by creasicle - Thu Jun 10 17:21:00 2010 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Peter the Great made the Russian flag based on the Dutch, because he loved the Netherlands, and wanted to make Russia more western. This can also be seen in the architecture in Petersburg which he founded. There is more than one explanation to the meaning of the colours, so it can't be said for sure. That other Easter European countries has the same colours is because they are all Slavic people and red-white-blue are the Pan-Slavic colours. This can be compared to the Scandinavian flags which all has a horizontal cross.

What is the distance from Paris France to Ljubljana Slovenia?
Q. What is the best way to travel, Air, Rail, Car?
Asked by OurHennHouse - Thu Dec 21 13:21:55 2006 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Distance by air is 966km or 600mi. Distance by car is 1250km which would take about 11 and a half hours, cost 48.80 Euros in tolls, 116.28 in petrol and 7.60 in road tax according to Round trip airfare from Paris to Ljubljana is cheapest right now on Czech Airways stopping in Prague. The price is $298.50 USD round trip taxes in. Looks to me your best bet would be to fly unless you want to have a car there instead of using public transportation. For rail, unless you got a rail pass and planned on travelling more I believe it would cost you more than it would to fly, and it would take as long as it would to drive. Paris to Zurich is about 6 hours and Zurich to Ljubljana on a night train takes a little over 3 hours.

A. No, you don't; however it is not the U.K. permanent resident visa which grants you the visa free travel but your Malaysian passport which exempts from holding a visa for short visits to the entire Schengen zone to include Slovenia for up to 90 days ..

Is train travel from London to Lake Bled in Slovenia possible?
Q. Planning on flying into Heathrow and spending a few days in London then moving onto Bled. Was thinking a train ride would be scenic and fun. What would be the best website for this planning? Am I better off to just fly?
Asked by Phobos Files - Sat Dec 12 12:51:45 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I strongly recommend you to take the flight, because one cannot go to Bled directly by train at all. You'd better travel to Ljubljana first by plane and then take a bus to Bled.

Has anybody emigrated from the UK to Slovenia?
Q. Just wondered how you found it? What difficulties did you have regarding emigrating (setting yourself up etc.). Were the local governmental departments easy to deal with? Thinking of leaving the UK for pastures new, and having visited Slovenia a few times, and love the country and people, I think it could be a really nice place to live. Thinking of the region around Kranska Gora/Bled, ie. the North West of the country, not far from the Austrian Border. Any advice gratefully received!

They have an email listed there, and while it's supposed to be related to their business, I'm sure they'd be delighted to answer any questions you might have :)
