How much Deutsche Mark(money) and resources do you think Germany used gathering, executing, feeding, etc...?
Q. Jews during World War II and do you think if they rerouted those resources to fighting the war that they could have won?
Asked by Vinh H - Sat Nov 14 15:36:06 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I have no interest in how they could have won the war. They were horrifyingly efficient as it was. It wasn't because of money or resources that they lost. It was the Russian army that made the difference.

I have a 100 Hundert Deutsche Mark banknote from 1960 in good condition. What is it worth in US currency?
Q. There's an eagle on the back with wings spread, head turned to the left, and an older man on front with strange hat on, his head turned left.

A. That note is still redeemable, but only at certain banks in Germany. You would get about US$67.92 for it. It would sell on eBay as a collectible for between $60 and $80, depending on condition.

A. Germany has the Euro, the Mark is no longer a valid currency. You can exchange Marks at the Deutsche Bundesbank, though. The exchange rate from Mark to Euro was fixed at 1 Euro for 1.95583 Mark. Therefore, 10 Deutsche Mark = 5.11292 Euro I don't know what your currency is, so you best try this converter: If you want to exchange Mark in Germany, here's a map with its branches: and here's the list with adresses:

can i still convert deutsche mark?
Q. Ok so I have some DM but I'm not too sure if I can convert it at the post office, would I be able to?
Asked by Lola - Thu Oct 22 06:06:32 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. The Deutsche Mark is no longer a valid currency, so it is highly unlikely that a retail bureau de change (such as the UK Post Office) would change them for you. In the UK you can continue to take (in person) any obsolete bank notes to the Bank of England, who will exchange them at face value. I suspect the German central bank will do something similar, but you will need to ask a German.

Can I still exchange Deutsche Marks for accepted currency anymore?
Q. i have a few hundred old Deutsche Marks lying around and i was wondering if i can still exchange then for Dollars or Euros. by the way i am an American so if i could do it at a local bank that would be awesome.

A. While it's impossible to exchange it the US, it'll be possible forever (or at least for a very long time) in Germany - I know it for sure cause my pal was in the same situation. Get someone do that for you when in Germany - few hundred old Deutsche Marks would amount to 1/2 of "few hundred" USD if memory serves.

Q. Pretty good condition, is it worth anything? Its a 1 deutsche mark.
Asked by artichokeyfgg - Sat Sep 8 19:39:18 2007 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Value depends largely on the condition of the coin. Your best bet would be to take your coin to a local coin dealer. They will be able to tell you more by evaluating the condition of the coin. They will also know the amount minted and what it is going for in today's market. You can also post pictures on this website (there are many coin experts here that can help you evaluate it - there also may be people willing to buy if you are trying to sell): Good luck!

A. The Deutsche Mark ceased to be legal tender immediately upon the introduction of the euro in contrast to the other eurozone nations, where the euro and legacy currency circulated side by side for up to two months. However, DM coins and banknotes continued to be accepted as valid forms of payment in Germany until 28 February 2002. The Deutsche Bundesbank has guaranteed that all DM in cash form may be changed into euros indefinitely, and one may do so at any branch of the Bundesbank and banks worldwide. From time to time, some merchants hold promotions where Deutsche Marks are accepted as payment.

Asked by overdramatic91 - Sat Jun 21 20:55:26 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Yes you can still exchange them. But the problem is that you can only do that at the National Central Banks and only for notes that are not past a certain age. You cannot exchange Francs and DM at normal banks or exchange offices. So if you intend to go to Paris anytime soon take your Francs with you and exchange them there at the Banque de France. Same with Germany, here you need to take your Deutsche Mark to one of the 66 branches of the Bundesbank that are spread all over Germany. 2 Deutschmarks or 7 Francs are roughly 1 EUR. You can find the exact exchange rate at www.xe.com.

Q. I was looking through my coin collection and I found several old coins and I have no clue if they're worth anything. They're in pretty good condition. Canadian - 1 cent - 1932 U.S. - 1 penny - 1941 Deutschland (german) - 1 cent - 1950 Deutsche Mark (german) - 1 - 1950 Deutschland (german) - 10 - 1950 Russian - 15 - 1955 Netherlands - 25 cents - 1956 Russian - 10 - 1957 Russian - 5 - 1959 (this one has a hole in it)
Asked by catfight_007 - Wed Jul 11 17:39:43 2007 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments
A. They are not worth much I'm afraid, just like others have suggested above. The Canadian 1932 cent has a mintage of 21,316,190 and is not rare. Value for it is about $1 in average to nice circulated. The US cent is also a common date and although it's over 65 years old the date is commonly found in dealer's mixed cents bin for under 10 cents each in average circulated grades. The German 1950 dated 1, 10 pfenning and 1 D.Mark are worth several dollars if in nice circulated with luster, and sell better in Germany. The Russian 15, 10 and 5 coins are kopeks, and they too are common because the Soviet Union, the former name for CIS Russia, was a big country and mintages for coins were extremely high. Other than belonging to the Cold War period… [cont.]
