What year were Monaco Euro coins first issued? Were all eight coins issued in that first issuance?
Q. A 3-part question. Monaco is one of 3 "non-traditional" EU countries that issues its own set of Euro coins (San Marino and the Vatican are the other two). A) In what year were the Monaco coins released to the public (was it 2002, like the rest of the participating EU countries, or later)? B) What year is printed on those Monaco coins? (Some central banks minted coins that were held in vaults prior to their 2002 official release, and placed the year of minting on those coins - like 1999, 2000 or 2001 - rather than the year of release.) C) Were all 8 Monaco Euro coins (1-, 2-, 5-, 10-, 20-, 50-cent, and 1- and 2-euro) minted and released to the public when the coins first began to circulate, or were some coins not minted at all for the… [cont.]

This question is regarding the symbolism on the 2 Euro coin common side.?
Q. There is what loks like a fence with stars at the end and something looking like male genetels is spiked on it. I could not find an anser anywhere. Any details would be greatly appreciated, maybe even web links. Thank you.

A. There are 12 stars representing the nations of the European Union. I am not sure what the 6 lines or "fence" depicts. There is "2 EURO" and a map of Europe. Perhaps this question should be in the geography section.

Exchanging Euro Coins?
Q. Hi does anyone know of a place that would be willing to deal with euro coins? I have recently travelled to Paris, and come back with around 18 Euros in 1 and 2 Euro coins. The bank accepted all my notes, but wouldn't deal with the coins- it just wasn't cost effective for them to deal with them, I've checked into it and the post office doesn't deal with them either, anyone know of a place that does? Even if it charges a little? Cheers in advance.

A. I've never know anywhere in this country to accept or change a pile of foreign coins. I used to find the best way to get shot of them was to make sure you spent them all at the airport (or whatever) before starting the homeward journey. Of course, with them all being Euros nowadays (unless of course you've been outside the EC!) you can always hang on to them and use them next time you go abroad.

Q. Why is an oak twig depicted on the 1, 2 and 5 euro cent coins issued by Germany?
Asked by Victor Meldrew - Wed Apr 25 07:25:46 2007 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Because the oak tree is the national plant of Germany. It symbolises Germany the way Laurel leaves do Italy and the Lily France. There is a saying that goes "stark wie deutsche Eiche" (strong as German oak). Oak was among the trees that were sacred to the old Germanic tribes, the "Thing" (tribe assembly and legal council) was commonly held under an oak or a linden tree.

Which kind of Euro should I get?
Q. Hi, I and am looking to buy euro coins for a collectors item. I want to know which is more valuable in it's metals, a 1 euro piece or 2 euro piece. In other words, which should I buy.
Asked by Anthony - Sat May 31 09:29:22 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. For collectors of Euro coins the verso is much more important than the face value. The obverse looks identical everywhere in Europe but the verso depends on the issuing country. Coins issued in larger countries, like Germany, France, Spain or Italy, have a pretty low collector's value (hardly differs from the nominal amount) but coins from smaller countries (i.e. countries with a small population) like Finland, Luxembourg or Malta are of a much higher value (regardless of the face value). The most valuable coins are those issued in the Vatican, in Monaco and in San Marino, but they are almost impossible to find, even for us Europeans. obverses: (for the versos of the new members Slovenia, Malta and Cyprus click right) versos:

Where to exchange a lot of Euro coins in the States?
Q. I have a lot of Euro coins that I wasn't able to unload before I left Europe. I wasn't worried, as I thought it would be easy to exchange them here, but it's not. Anyone know where I can do this? I can't go to the airport because 1) I would need to get back into the international terminal and 2) I already tried, they don't do coins. So where do I go? Also, I don't plan on going back, so I don't want to save them for a future trip. It is just extra money I have sitting around that I can't use.

I have a cyst in my womb, im really worried about it?
Q. Hi. Last week I visited the doctor with the most awful pain deep down on the left. I had this for 2 weeks but got bad this particular day. I had to go the hospital for a scan and I have a cyst the size of 2 euro coin ( 2 coint). This cyst was there during my pregnancy 3 years ago but the doctor did not seem worried. Also I had a laproscopy 5 yrs ago and have cysts on my ovaries again I was told nothing to worry about. Now I am not so sure. I have already caught one doctor out who was lieing to me about the cysts when I got different feed back from another doctor. I have been told to take painkillers and wait for 4 months for an appointment to have it checked out. The pain is still there. Not as bad I must admit but I am conscious of it.… [cont.]

A. Absolutely a second opinion...even if you have to go to a larger city. My friend had an ovarian cyst and it burst...it wasn't even very big and it burst. It's not life-threatening, but she said the pain was worse than labor! You're docs are probably delaying b/c benign cysts usually aren't serious, but if it's hurting you then you need it removed b/c you don't have to live in pain. Get a second opinion if you can. However, if you can't, the docs are correct in that cysts aren't life-threatening but they ARE wrong in assuming you can or want to live with pain. Now that is assuming they've done a sonogram and maybe biopsied it to make SURE it's a benign cyst. Good luck!

A. Don't clean coins. It kills the value anywhere from 10%-50%, depending on how hard you scrub. It's always better just to leave them as is and bear the dirtyness.

Sick gerbil.?
Q. My gerbil has an infection on his stomach since the 16th of July. He has already seen the vet twice. I was told it was just a little absess. He was first put on a 2 week course of antibiotic and has since had two stronger courses of antibiotic, it is now the size of a 2 euro coin and is full of pus and is a raw pink colour. Has anybody ever experienced this before or have any advise? He is 2 1/2 yr old male mongolian gerbil. I forgot to mention that the absess is gone now and he is left with this infection. His behaviour is normal and he is still eating and drinking just as much (just thought id mention that). Has just died this evening.

A. Here is what you have: 1981 Ecuador 1 Sucre 1910 Mexico 5 Centavos Exonumia Token, probably not worth much 1950 Federal Republic of (West) Germany 1 Pfennig 1963 Jamaica Half Penny 1957 Italy 20 Lire 1983 Panama 5 Centesimos 2002 2 Euro Cents (possibly Germany) Ecuador 5 Sucres note 100 Dollar, Confederate States of America note Iraq coins Most of these are likely not worth a whole lot because they are not that old, but the 1910 Mexican coin might be worth something if it is decent shape. I know very little about paper money, but Confederate States of America notes do exist. I know even less of world paper money. Please check the links below for more information.
